There are lots of ways each individual or individuals can do for their own fundraisers whether he or she wants to raising money for NDO upcoming trip in November 2o11 or other NDO TRIPS  that will be under way in 2012.

The follow types of fundraisers are great opportunities to use and they are actually been used by many individuals from different organizations.

Please give them a try for your fundraising approach:

- Crowdrise.com  " is a website similar to Kickstarter, where you set a fund raising goal, send the link to your friends, recieve small contributions from your friends and family. Now, their credit cards won't be charged UNTIL YOU HAVE REACHED YOUR GOAL.

Your friends and family will know that their money will only be used towards your trip and if you don't reach the goal, no credit card will be charged. this makes you work hard and others to be more likely to contribute! Set your goals realistically and raise money other ways as well. In case you fall short from your target, you can contribute the money you have raised elsewhere to yourself to reach your goal.

Gofundme.com goal s website where you can create your personal page and share with your friends and family. Unlikew Crowdrise, Gofundme actually charges credit cards as a person contributes. What this means is that if you do not reach your goal, you'll have their money in your bank account and will have to return each.

However, this website can be useful if online fundraising is not your only source.  In Crowdrise, whether the goal is met or not, in Gofundme, you may raise part of your funds from here, and the remaining from grants, events, and school.

Remember

Utilize your facebook and twitter networks.  Verify the authenticity and security of the sites and then use the online community for your support.
Identify your strengths and play to them. If you are a artist, band, or a musician, organize an event and charge for tickets, people can pay to get in . If you can make something cool, like t-shirts, knitting hats, bracelets, ,etc and then sell them.

You can also hold or have a BBQ or potpluck then invite your friends and family there you could ask for small donations/contributions and/or charge them for invitation. Or you can turn it to the house party or whatever gathering you wish it to be. If you 're a party animal, throw a party and ask for contributions.

In addition, there organizations i.e. Oribis Institute had previous participants who raised all program costs and we encourage folks to these fundraising approaches a try. So be pro active and we 'll help and support you.

Restaurant fundraising events

Many local and corporate restaurants are available for fundraising. They offer you the use of their facility and food for one night or so, and you advertise to drive people to the restaurant. At the end of the fundraiser, you receive a portion of their profits. Terms of the fundraiser will vary from restaurant to restaurant, and the decision to do fundraising events is up to the individual restaurant operator.

Restaurant fundraising events tips

Create a list of restaurants in your area that you are interested in contacting. Establish a contact list and begin to make calls or visit locations ( we suggest making a personal contact by visiting the location). Schedule an appointment to meet with the restaurant operator and discuss the terms of the fundraiser.

Write a list of questions to ask the restaurant operator. Questions should include: what percentage of the profits you will receive ( restaurants typically vary from 10-25%), what days of the week are available, what hours are available, if all services and patrons will count toward your percentage on the day of the fundraiser, and if there are any limitations to your advertising for the event.

Restaurant fundraisers are more successful if you work as a team because you can market or advertise to a larger group of people. Make sure you include friends, family, community members, and people at your institution ( i.e. college, church, etc). Encourage the people you invite their friends and family as well. The more people who go to the restaurant, the greater the profits of your fundraising. For example, we tried this opportunity with Watercourse restaurant and it went well.

Ask if you can work in the restaurant on the night of the fundraiser. Your familiar face will remind attendees why you are there, and they might spend more at the restaurant. Also, check to see if you can put a donation box at the front of the restaurant. While you are working, people will be driven to donate directly to you in addition to contributing by eating.

sponsorships

Under construction Sponsorships provide funding assistnce through individuals or organizations. Potential sponsors including businesses, local service organizations, and other people who you know. Consider local businesses that your friends and family is connected to, organizations such as Rotary, Kiwanis, or Optimists, family members, and community members you see on a regular basis such as dentist, doctor or coach, etc.

 Sponsorship tips

Create a list of people and organizations you would like to approach for sponsorships. In the list, include the contact information for the people you know, and try to make a connection to someone in the organizations you are interested in presenting to or writing a letter to.
School counselors/advisers are often good resources for local service club members, and family members might have contacts at local businesses.

Make appointment to meet with potential sponsors. Call organizations and businesses and ask about their giving programs. Call friends and family members and tell them about what you are doing. Try to schedule a time to meet with potential sponsors and prepare a presentation.

Sponsorship presentations should include information about the program, your, and why you need funding. To prepare, organize your thoughts. Consider: details about program, details about your personal goals and accomplishments, what you hope to gain from the program, and why they should support your involvement.  When you are done, write a sponsorship letter and complete your resume:

Write a letter to potential sponsors. Use your sponsorship contact information list and address the letter to a person rather than " To Whom It May Concenr.". In the letter, include all of the points you addressed when you organized your thoughts for sponsorship information. Make your contact information is clearly provided. Use high quality paper to print the letter. For more information, search online for sponsorship letter examples.

Complete your resume: A resume should include your achievements, and your academic, athletic extracurricular community and personal activities.
When meeting with potential sponsors, remember to look your best. Dress in business attire and make sure to make eye contact. Bring sponsorship letter, your resume, and a flyer including the program information. Also, tell them what your will do for them as aa thank-you ( example: a presentation after the program about what you gained). Do not forget to send a thank you letter for their time, and additional thank you letter once they  give you funding.

 fundraising companies online

Many companies specialize in assisting individuals and groups fundraiser. NDO encourages your fundraising efforts but we do not endorse any single organization.

Online Fundraising Company Tips

Verify the legitimacy of the organization. Find out how long the company has been in business and make sure that you can make contact with customer care before you decide to give with one particular fundraising company. Also, make sure sites are secure before you make any purchases

Peruse the various sites and explores the different activities they have listed for you to fundraise. Often, you will need a little bit of money to purchase goods from their site in order seel or distribute to make money. Think about hidden costs such as shipping  and printing of materials. Consider what you will be interested in doing and how much effort the task ill take to be profitable.
Try doing an activity with your team to raise money and split the funds raised  evenly. If you want to sell a product, often times you can be more effective as a group. Also, the initial investment will be smaller if you work in teams to complete the fundraising task.

 Creative Fundraising Ideas

As you probably aware or know that there are many other ways to do fundraising this including your own creativities that you think will get you money or get funding.
I.e. Ice Skating Rink Rent,
NDO has never done this but there are other organizations who have done it.
The idea is to rent out a skating rink for one night or whatever time might be.  For instance, you can invite friends, family, and community members to come and ice skate as a way to support. Then rents the rink out and other sources so all of the funding would go direct to paying your participation.

Consider the holidays that fall into the time period when you will be fundraising and think of a creative way to raising money. Remember, Valentine 's Day is in February and also other holidays.
